Blogger's Quilt Festival Spring 2010 begins today!
Thanks to Amy's Creative Side for organizing this event!
And....here is my entry.
This is a Piece o' Cake design which took me 5 years to complete! Mostly because I was so intimated by such small appliqué! Many of the blocks measure 8" finished.
What makes this quilt special to me is not the fact that I did it...and finished it, but that my nieces who at the time were preteens, put names to each block. One for each of their cousins, or sisters or brothers, my parents; Grammy and Poppa and even my dog Lucky. Each name reflects a special interest of that person. Instead of a Chinese Take Out block original to the pattern, I added a church. This is the center of our family.
I've added close ups of a few blocks...which you may click on to enlarge.
That is just darling, and the personalization makes it a real heirloom for the family:)
ReplyDeleteI love it! The quilt def. reflects all of the hard work you put into it. I think my favorite is the ice cream house. Yum! Are the little candies buttons? Excellent job!
ReplyDeleteQuite an accomplishment to finish this challenging quilt. Glad you personalized it-hope you put a label on the back explaining all of that.
