These two guys....my two sons, shown here after competing in the Wild Canyon Games in Antelope Oregon this past June, moved in together in Cheney, Washington this past weekend.  6+ hours from our home they are making their new home.  My oldest, Tucker (on the left) has been on his own for the past 5 years attending college and going though military basic training, will now attend Eastern Washington University enrolled in a Master's program in Computer Science.  Mason will be joining the Washington National Guard and attending Eastern's undergraduate psychology program.  This past week and weekend was filled with packing, loading and transporting items from our home to theirs.  Bittersweet.  Remembering my youth and the excitement of  independence, i now experience this stage of life through the eyes of a mother.  I've raised them the best I could, following God's love and direction.
Today, being my first day home after an exhausting and emotional week, i have been blessed with the phone ringing.  Customers wanting quilts quilted.  I believe it to be God's way of keeping me busy and moving forward.

  2. Karen, you've raised fine young men! My two brothers lived together for several years as young men which was shocking to all of us because they about killed one another as kids. They no longer live togther but still work together after 20 plus years. Enjoy your quiet time and rest easy knowing that you have prepared these young men to conquer the world before them.

  3. I know exactly how you feel Karen. My daughter left to study at uni 4 years ago and my son has been with her for nearly 2 months doing summer work until he comes back to start uni again after the holidays. Sewing is the best cure for loneliness. When I'm in my room sewing it's like the outside world and all life's problems just don't exist. They look like fine boys and am sure you've done a wonderful job raising the. Now it's your time. Enjoy it.

  4. I, too. have experienced that 'empty nest' feeling - horrible, but it passes and your life moves on - the natural order of life!

  5. Handsome young men! I love their names too. It is hard to have the kids leave, but so nice when they come home for visits. Your relationship with them will be on a whole different level.

  6. They are fine young men Karen, and handsome too! I can still picture in my mind the day I drove over to your house to tell you goodbye as you left on your adventure to PLU. Seems like yesterday. Funny how I can remember that but can't remember what I walked into the other room for! Love ya and you'll be fine.
