new baby Bernina+

So last week i'm under a self imposed deadline to finish my new quilt pattern, Poppa's Tree Farm.
I was frantically piecing my last couple of tree blocks on Saturday night when of course, under those circumstances...my top thread kept getting caught on something down below...and for the life of me, i could not fix it myself.  Rethread, blow out...ask hubby to take a look...ahhhh!
Without getting into areas only certified technicians should go, we gave up.
I had a whole Sunday planned of finishing the quilt top at my quilt club.
Nope..i felt so alone.
The only one there without a machine.  :/
I was peering in the window at the local Bernina dealership first thing Monday morning. The doors opened and i about fell in.
Of course it would be a few days before the technician would look at it...
but i remembered keenly words my husband whispered as he was trouble shooting on Saturday night.
"i think you should buy a second machine...."

to which i kept silent.

Welcome home my new baby Bernina.
Nothing fancy in the Bernina world...not a lot of features...just the basics.
But i knew i wanted another Bernina.  I LOVE my Virtuosa 160 and all the accessories are compatible with my new B 215.
Purrs like a kitten. A bit smaller which is fine by me...easy for traveling,
and perfect for piecing.
As for my 160...nothing major, a burr i think...and no charge to fix.

So, speaking of Poppa's Tree Farm....when at the Bernina dealership, i could not resist this combination of fabrics....The red will be the background,
green for the pinwheels and white polka dot trees.
The Red and White fabric, called Christmas Countdown by Deb Strain for Moda,
the green fabric called Dimples by Gail Kessler for Andover.
What do you think of that combination?
If you are interested in purchasing my patterns, Poppa's Tree Farm above or Pumpkin Spice below... you will find them here on

  1. I really love your tree quilt, I'm thinking of buying the pattern but is it something a beginner can do? I've only done a couple quilts and they were just squares and flying geese type of easy things.

    Thanks
