Satin fabric and Poly thread

Practice, practice, practice....pay no attention to the practice above the pink feathers...
that was an exercise in tension adjustments.
I've never quilted on satin fabric, never quilted with a polyester thread and never used the spool holder on my Gammill.  Today is the day i jump in and play around with these elements.  I will be  quilting an all satin embroidery quilt which will be on display at the Northwest Quilting Expo in Portland later this month.  After much research, testing my stitches, adjusting tension and marking the fabric with various tools to determine the best for disappearing,
i am ready to begin.
But first,  i will quilt my Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt which will also be on display at the NW Quilting Expo and hang in a local quilt show in Hillsboro at the First Baptist Church
on the 14th and 15th of this month.

  4. Ok I want to practice too, but on a mid arm (as I have)or a long arm (as you have) how do you set up a practice. I have unfortunatly found that if I don't have tension on all 4 sides of the fabric Top, bottom, and lt&rt it messes up the tension. So how do you practive a little bit, a small piece? my side tension pieces are too sm to do much smaller than a baby quilt.

yours looks fabulous, I want mine to be fab too. How do you set up a smaller piece to practice on, say a 10-12" block? or even a table runner?
