BlogLand Give-Aways

Give-Aways all across quilting BlogLand have started today!!! If you want an opportunity to win some fun fun stuff...check out:
for a list of all the participants!
I want to bring your attention to one of my favorite blogs:
is giving away a pack of Amy Butler charm squares....42 and all different!!
I thought I might participate by giving something away on my blog this year, but well, graduating senior, Tucker home from college and miles of piles of laundry since Friday!! Next year for sure!!! Have fun checking out all the great blogs and Good Luck!

I finished up Tucker's quilt! Yes...all finished!! I finished machine quilting last Wednesday and machine stitched the binding. Then I did something I thought would NEVER happen! You see, I had to leave in the morning for Spokane so, I called my mom and asked if she would hand stitch the binding. Growing up I heard her say over and over...and over... "sewing skips a generation". I learned to sew and quilt from my dad's mom and my mom's mom was a incredible knitter. I NEVER saw my mom pick up a needle of any kind (sewing that is)...NEVER!
In the past couple years, I don't know how or why....but my mom started making handmade napkins out of batiks. She carefully folds the fabric and hand stitches the hem with tiny tiny stitches. I guess this is her way of saving our planet and if you happen to be in her home, you may just be lucky enough to take a couple with you when you leave. I don't even know what to say....except!! I knew she could hem that binding!! I've seen her work! THANK YOU MOM!!

check out that binding!!!! Ewwww Ahhhhh
This is the back of the quilt...I used up every piece of leftover fabric and took me most of a day to do! On the wall is some of Tucker's art work. Oh and all his bones and skulls he has found since he was 5 years old! And his raccoon tail. The art piece on the left is his most recent. It is a man in complete submissiveness, kneeling in prayer. You can click on the photos to enlarge, but I think I will post a separate photo of this art piece later in the week. It deserves a closer look.
